PC is knackered

I understand this isnt a PC tech site, but i was wondering if anyone could help me at all.
My PC is a year and half old (some parts younger) and has decided it doesn't want to be my friend anymore.
Started a day ago, PC crashed 3 times in game meaning so i had to turn it off and back on. After that i tried booting up again and it crashed when i opened a folder on my desktop.
After that, whenever i tried booting up it was failing to boot up from CD-ROM and was asking me to put in system disks. After having a look in BIOS, not actually changing anything, I started turning my pc off and on repeatedly in desperation until it just decided it doesn't even want to use my monitor anymore... any ideas?

set bios back to default
it may be that the monitor setting have been changed ie agp or pci

apart from that there could be a million things
is the power supply working?
does it see the hdd's

that sounds like its not set to boot from hdd, as sirus said check bios first, last resort would be a reformat but only after everything else has been explored.

right update... the flashing light that tells you the pc is reading your harddrive (or at least i think it does that... feel free to correct me) doesnt flash at all... so i am presuming my harddrive is fried and need to buy a new one

my call is unplug cables from hd and plug them back, if that wouldn't help plug sata cable to other sata port or change cable but it maybe that your hd just died
NEVER turn pc on and off and back on often then once for 5 sek or you will eventually damage your psu or Motherboard !!!

when your pc first boot up at bios bit, press f8 or f9
this will set bios back to default
It could be that it is set to boot on agp

if you have onboard gfx then try using that first by connecting to the sub d on back of pc
you may need to use an adaptor if onbord is vga

when you get onto bios screen then set it to default values and it should be fine

as keni sid never switch the power on and off quick
