Right... I've been having punkbuster problems with COD4 lately... so I decided to uninstall and reinstall to see if it fixed it. So I clicked uninstall and the uninstall progress began... and then finished...

BUT.. after I did that it didn't disappear from my pc. I can still play it, but i get kicked instantly by Punkbuster... and i can't uninstall it because it thinks it is already uninstalled and does not appear in my programs list in Add or Remove Programs (or something). Oh and its been removed from my registry during uninstall process...

does anyone know what I can do to get it fixed and start playing online again?

I seem to be having the same problem.

Just done a fresh install of Windows 7 (v7600) having successfully run 7100 for a wee while.

Downloaded and installed PB, added COD4 and made sure up to date, but as soon as I start an online game, I get kicked.

Any ideas?

Right,

In case this helps anyone else. I was beinng kicked due to PnkBstrA not communicating.

Switched off AVG. Switched off Windows Firewall. Still get kicked.

Checked services running, no PnkBstrA service to be seen, but PnkBstrB was there, so I stopped it.

Downloaded pbsvc.exe and now about to try again. If it works, will quit out and switch Firewall back on, as both services allowed through it.

Here goes nothing....

Ok.

No kick, switch on Firewall and AVG. Try to remember how to retrieve my old profile, as working my way back to 55 is not appealing just now!
